Space Copenhagen – established in 2005 by Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, both graduated The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture – is known for defying habits and employing a sincere personal vision to their design.
The Radisson Blu Royal Hotel lobby is an essential part of the legendary interior, said Space Copenhagen’s Signe Bindslev Henriksen, who runs the studio alongside Peter Bundgaard Rützou.
We wanted to design a piece of furniture that could create a sense of intimacy in this very open space.
At the same time the design had to relate to the signature spiral staircase and the circular columns of the space, added Bundgaard Rützou.
A comfortable design that would somehow also make you feel protected. Sitting alone or in a group, without feeling too exposed.
The building designed by Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen for the airline Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) was Copenhagen’s first skyscraper, and is one of the most familiar and celebrated examples of Danish modernist architecture.
